Williamson County Names Rebecca Clemons as First County Manager
Oct. 1, 2024 (Williamson County, Texas) – Rebecca Clemons has been named Williamson County’s first county manager. The Commissioners Court announced their selection today after interviews with the finalists. This new position was approved in the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 budget. She will start in the position effective Oct.1, 2024.
The county manager reports directly to the Commissioners Court and is responsible for providing leadership and executing direct supervision over certain management, professional and administrative staff including death inquest specialists, pre-trial services, Human Resources and others. In addition, the county manager will aid in departmental and long-range planning, ensure policy compliance and assess that strategic planning goals are met.
“Hiring the county’s first county manager is an important step for Williamson County. This position will provide structure as we navigate the challenges that come with becoming a large county through continued rapid growth,” said Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey. “Rebecca’s wealth of knowledge about many facets of county government makes her an ideal choice for this role.”
Clemons was most recently serving as the senior director of Human Resources for Williamson County. She also has held positions in the County Judge’s Office, Budget Office and County Auditor’s Office. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M University.

Williamson County has a population of more than 713,000 and is the 12th most populous county in the state according to the Texas Demographic Center. Williamson County has more than 1,900 employees with a budget of $635,129,938 for this fiscal year.
