Overview 

We are seeking a highly skilled and professional furniture designer to join our team and to shape inspiring workspace environments through innovative furniture solutions. In this role, the designer will lead the conceptualization and development of custom furniture designs that meet client needs while aligning with functional, aesthetic, and budget requirements. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical expertise in furniture specifications and renderings as well as a strong portfolio in furniture design, and a passion for creating inspiring and practical spaces. Responsibilities 

  • Develop creative space plans and specifications using contract furniture systems. 

  • Lead the entire design process from programming to detailed technical drawings, ensuring alignment with client specifications and project goals. 

  • Design with a mix of major lines including Kimball, HON, and ancillary products. 

  • Maintain knowledge of products, systems, and design tools through regular training. 

  • Understand and maintain knowledge of contract furniture cost structures and cooperative contract cost structures. 

  • Create 2D and 3D drawings and hi-quality renderings using AutoCAD and CET. 

  • Generate Bills of Materials and detailed specifications using CET and Project Spec. 

  • Ensure consistent tagging and documentation throughout all drawings and Bill of Materials. 

  • Prepare client presentation packages with space plans, renderings, and pricing. 

  • Create design options and product finish palettes as needed. 

  • Conduct specification audits with attention to detail and minimal oversight. 

  • Source and specify ancillary furniture and finish options for a complete solution. 

  • Collaborate with architects and designers on project design, intent and specifications. 

  • Review order acknowledgments for accuracy and coordinate with internal team. 

  • Develop installation drawings and support materials post-order. 

  • Attend client meetings and job site visits, presenting design concepts professionally. 

  • Serve as the point of contact for scheduling product updates from manufacturer representatives. 

  • Manage deadlines and deliverables using internal communication platforms. 

Experience 

  • 3–5 years of experience in contract furniture design or related field. 

  • Degree in Interior Design preferred, or related discipline from an accredited institution. 

  • Mandatory proficiency in CET, AutoCAD, Project Spec, and Bluebeam. 

  • Working knowledge utilizing Revit and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively. 

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Position: Full time.  In office, not a remote position.
