Education Connection

The Cedar Park Chamber will partner again this year with LISD and Hill Country Bible church for Education Connection.  Last year there were 420 literacy partners and mentors representing 63 churches and businesses serving over 820 students in all 23 LISD elementary schools. Student test results have consistently shown improvement in reading levels and confidence over previous years.
The school opportunities to be involved continue to grow for the coming school year. Consider investing 30 minutes a week to make an impact in the life of a child. Check out these volunteer roles and consider where you'd like to serve.

You will also need to register with LISD to complete your background check and identify yourself with the school campus you select.

All literacy partners and mentors must attend one of the following training sessions:
* Saturday, October 4, 8:30 - 11 AM at Hill Country Bible Church Leander, 11880 Old 2243     West, Suite 600, Leander, TX 78641. This location is near the intersection of Bagdad Rd. and     2243, behind Smokey Mo's BBQ.
* Thursday, October 9, 12-2:30 PM at Hill Country Bible Church Austin, Lakeline Campus,     Bldg A, NW Lobby Entrance. Located in NW Austin at RR 620 and Little Elm Trail, 1.4     miles west of Highway 183 and RR 620.
* Saturday, October 11, 8:30 - 11 AM at Hill Country Bible Church Austin, Lakeline Campus,     Bldg A, NW Lobby Entrance. Located in NW Austin at RR 620 and Little Elm Trail, 1.4     miles west of Highway 183 and RR 620.

Once your registrations (including the LISD background check) and training(s) are complete, coordinators will pair you with students, trying to accommodate your day/time preferences as well as school schedule constraints. The target goal is to have you reading with your students in 2-3 weeks after you can print your LISD volunteer badge and are trained.
