SUMMARY:Rotary Bi-Monthly Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our speaker on 8/19 will be Susan Schaffer\, Director of Reveal Resource Center.\n\n \nFeediing the Community through Reveal\n\n \n\n\nSusan Schaffer began her journey as a volunteer at Reveal Resource Center\, a local faith-based food pantry\, clothing closet\, and diaper ministry. In 2018\, she joined the board of directors\, and after serving four years as Treasurer\, she felt called to become the Executive Director in 2022.\n\nIn her role\, Susan has revitalized the website\, implemented a volunteer management software system\, and transitioned client intake from paper forms to an efficient barcode scanning system. Her dedication has secured community grants that have allowed Reveal to purchase two additional vehicles\, enhance food donation storage\, and make crucial building improvements.\n\nMoreover\, she launched the annual fundraising event\, "Brunch\, Bubbles\, and Bingo\," which will host its 5th event this February\, becoming a beloved occasion in the community. Susan also leads the annual Amplify Austin event\, while the highlight remains the "Share Your Blessings" event\, providing 900 families with complete Thanksgiving meals.\n\nIn response to a nationwide food shortage and economic challenges caused by COVID-19 in 2022\, Susan organized local food drives to support the community during the holiday season and to re-stock their pantry shelves. This effort resulted in Reveal receiving over 50\,000 pounds of food in 2022\, thanks to 57-food drive conducted between October and December.\n\nSusan has been actively involved in the ministry. She was invited to serve on the Central Texas Food Bank Services Insights Committee and was asked to speak about Reveal's Food Rescue Program at their annual Hope Conference. In collaboration with other non-profits and local churches\, she addresses food and clothing needs during natural disasters\, such as the Cedar Park fire and the recent floods in the Hill Country. Susan was recently asked to serve on an advisory committee for Seton Ascension Hospital to represent those with food insecurity and in need of food pantry services in Williamson County Texas. \n\nWith unwavering support from volunteers and the community\, Reveal now provides food to 600 families weekly. As of June 2026\, Reveal has touched the lives of 301\,104 families\, representing 1\,039\,430 individuals\, including 40\,147 babies receiving diapers\, wipes\, and formula. Furthermore\, 2\,244 individuals have embraced faith through this incredible ministry.\n\nIf you need to find Susan on a Monday or Tuesday\, please look among the volunteers\, as she leads by serving alongside them\, dedicated to helping those in need within our community.
